    Too Sticky

I bought 2 sets of Squishy Maker Gel so I would have a lot of material to experiment with. I tried different kinds of molds, even hard type molds like recommended, I tried different powder pigments, I tried no pigment, I tried letting the gel sit for several days. Every time I've tried to use this product the results are really disappointing. The squishies get stuck in the mold or never cure at all. Even the squishes I was able to get out of the mold had a gross residue on them that stayed on my skin, which would not be good for playing with or storing them. I would not recommend this squishy maker gel.

    Silicone squishy gel

Grandchildren are having the best time working with this gel. They love making their own squishies.

    Not Bad!

I think that it works great! I have ordered so much of this and every squishy has cured. I love that I can make my own mochi squishies that I can’t buy anywhere. However I am a little sad that the result is really sticky and how delicate it is. The only problem is the demolding process where my squishy will rip. Also I spent about 2 hours trying to get 7 squishies out (I only got out 3!) so I think it would be better if the gel didn’t stick to the mold. But I love the gel over all!

Works, but not quite as described; Needs more detailed instructions/info

If you’re expecting a simple process with the result being anything similar to commercial squishies, you’re in for a rude awakening.

    1. The instructions are only what you find on this page, there’s nothing included, so there’s no instruction on how much pigment can be included before you encounter issues. I wanted an opaque bright pink, and wound up adding way too much pigment such that it didn’t cure very well. For future reference, the liquid pigments you can purchase through S&T aren’t very strong, so any non-sulfur containing dry pigment or stronger silicone pigment would be more effective.

    2. On the topic of curing, there’s NO WAY this will cure in 24 hours. Listen to the video and leave it for several days. If you have a dedicated crafting toaster oven, you can accelerate the cure using a low heat, and I absolutely advise it. I was able to get a good cure in about 24 hours at 90-100°F.

    3. The final texture of the squishy is VERY STICKY. It’s almost like mucus. When done right, it doesn’t leave any residue at all, though. It’s just more like those old “sticky hands” from the 90s rather than a mochi squishy of today.

All in all, there’s basically no alternatives for a “real” DIY squishy, and it DOES work with a little trial and error, just be prepared for the learning curve.
